Jim,
Great new site!
Great commentary, thank you. Makes our job easier when telling boards and staff what they really do not want to hear.
I take the "do the right things" just a bit further to "do the right things right."
I'm not all that sure about maintaining and "easy manner," but I sure know how to rebound from rejection.
Saludos,

Thank you for this reinforcement! I am the Executive Director of Main Street Zephyrhills and I KNOW we are the "underdogs" so to speak. It is because of the degree of difficulty to educate the community about our mission. I do believe I have gotten pretty good at speaking with confidence and relaying our mission. This is a very timely article because we have a primarily new board of directors. Just last week I asked them to join me in pursuing new membership. Yesterday I e-mailed them our membership application and I attached a note advising, "if you don't feel comfortable with what to say about our organization please give me a call and I'll give you some words to use." You hit the nail on the head, if you are not passionate about your mission, you will be hard pressed to communicate your mission to others.

Again, Thank you for this very timely reinforcement. I am going to send it to my Board of Directors.
