Haiti’s earthquake relief efforts received local help. Friends of Timkatec in America, founded by Sanford business executive, Patrick O’Shea, raised several thousand dollars for the Timkatec Center which helps homeless and abandoned teens to learn a trade. The Center is run by Father Simon, a Salesian priest, dedicated to the destitute youth of Haiti. The funds were distributed through a cooperative arrangement between Timkatec and Catholic Relief Services in Baltimore, one of the major relief agencies assisting Haiti. Timkatec in Creole means a chance for every child. DM provides pro bono fund raising counsel to Timkatec.
The Florida Horse Park, an equestrian center in Ocala, Florida has retained DM to assess its fund raising programs and prepare an action plan for a multi-million dollar expansion. The Park comprises some 500 acres on the Cross Florida Greenway near Interstate 75. The Park is fast becoming one of the top equestrian destinations in the country as host to local, national and international competitions in virtually every equine discipline, including polo and versatility challenges.
Ocean Research and Conservation Association (ORCA) in Fort Pierce, Florida retained DM to conduct our eZScreen prospect research service and to devise a fund raising action plan. ORCA’s mission is to protect and restore marine ecosystems and the species they sustain through the development of innovative technologies and science-based conservation. Edie Widder, Ph.D., is President, CEO and Senior Scientist. In 2006, she was awarded the prestigious MacArthur Fellowship from the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation. ORCA is located in the historic Coast Guard Auxiliary building at Fort Pierce Beach/Inlet. Kilroy, ORCA’s monitoring network, is a must see. Check it out at: www.orca.org
Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida (SHFB) is moving forward in pursuit of a suitable 100,000 square foot facility based on the pre-capital campaign feasibility study DM conducted in late 2009, our second such study for SHFB in ten years. DM also conducted a wealth analysis of the donor file, segmented and rated potential donors with our eZScreen prospect research service. SHFB has been in the news as the organization tries to keep up with the demand for food by those affected by the slump in the economy. Congratulations to Dave Krepcho, CEO of SHFB, for being named Central Floridian of the Year by the Orlando Sentinel.
The Council on Aging of Martin County in Stuart, Florida has started the final phase of its $15 million capital campaign for construction of a new senior center. DM has served as capital campaign counsel for two years now. While the award winning “green” facility is truly state-of-the art, it has been a long process from the design of the building to digging the footings. City, County and State construction requirements caused many delays, leaving donors and prospective donors wondering if the new center would be built. The center is named after Stuart residents, Charles and Rae Kane, long time advocates of the elderly on the local and national level. Not only is construction underway, the public will soon be able to view the progress in real time with a special on-site web cam.

Sarasota Memorial Healthcare Foundation engaged DM to conduct an Online Board Self-Assessment Survey as a preliminary step to the Foundation’s long range planning in 2010. Given the national healthcare debate and the future role of hospital foundations, the timing of the survey was ideal, according to Alex Quarles, Foundation CEO.
The National Hemophilia Foundation Delaware Valley Chapter in Glenside, Pennsylvania retained DM to conduct a pre-retreat Online Survey and a weekend retreat facilitated by Jim Donovan, President of DM, in October of last year.
DM Retreat Facilitation and Training clients thus far for 2010 include the Treasure Coast Food Bank, Fort Pierce; Facial Pain Institute, Gainesville; American Academy of Osteopathy, Indianapolis in conjunction with Carlton & Company/Boston.
